Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | I'm moving back to a state in the Lower 48 that has muskies, so I'm getting my muskie gear organized. I tie my own bucktails, so I have boxes full and some of those are big 12 and 13 bladed baits because they were the alternative back in 2011 and 2012 when I last fished for muskies. So what's the deal these days? People still throw 12/13's to break up the 10's, or does everyone throw 8's and smaller stuff? Or heck, are three and four blade baits the alternative now? I'm asking because I don't know. If 12/13 size baits are "so last year" then I'll take them apart and rebuild the components back into something that works. Thanks guys.

And now with the triple blades and different blades on one bait, I didn't know if it was a trend who's time has passed or not.

Posts: 256 | There is a triple blaided bucktail in the market these days, the apache triple bucktail, has 3 different size blades including a size 12 Another new thing to the bucktail famillie of baits is the kramer revolution that looks different to the rest of the baits available But those relatively new things have yet to be more popular than the standart double blade bucktail That makes me wonder, should i try a size 20 triple bladed bucktail?

I picked up a couple (and probably overpaid a tad lol) but was throwing them last weekend and the thread on here regarding how much harder they pull than traditional inlines couldn't be more accurate! I was shocked and now have to reconsider the reel on my blade rod haha I am going to put the tranx 500pg on that all because of the revolutions (now I just need to get that darn reel fixed)... getting back on topic, I do still use 12's and 13's and they have moved some fish for me. I just have not had the thrill of one committing on either yet. Like anything in our world of expensive taste and elusive beasts, they're another tool which has its time and place. From what I gathered, fall is fitting and it will hopefully bring a pig in the boat for me this year.

Posts: 945 | Jeff- I PM'ed you some patterns of Spanky 12's that you will want when you get back. Put a lot of 50"s in the boat for us there. I don't use 12's much in Madison anymore. done good in Minnesota and Canada also on them though. Good luck- bet your exited to be back. Jeff Hanson madisonmuskyguide.com
