Posts: 7058 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | The weather is getting nicer, open water all over and though the northern zones aren't open for muskie fishing it seems like a lot of peeps getting out to fish! I got out yesterday for 3/4 of a day of fruitless muskie chasing on the Fox Chain. How did all of you do?

Posts: 815 Location: Waukee, IA | Got a few hours run time on my new boat. Initial motor break in is done, time to fish when the weather cooperates.

Posts: 253 | Got out yesterday on Shabonna, didn't see a thing. Saw very few other fish caught by pan and bass fisherman. It will get better. Steve

Posts: 841 Location: Southwest PA | One dead mouse in a leaky toilet. Fixed the toilet, burned the mouse... Never got to see the boat because of the mouse and toilet. Did get to cast a little from shore but river conditions were god awful! Edited by Tommis 4/24/2017 2:28 PM

Posts: 20238 Location: oswego, il | You either cooked the mouse on too high of heat or cooked it too long. Best to slow cook them in a crock pot. The meat falls off the tiny little bones. Tasty. Edited by ToddM 4/24/2017 2:47 PM

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | Todd's right per usual.. Another thing ta keep in mind is that the gamey taste comes back with a vengeance if you over cook um.

Posts: 841 Location: Southwest PA | Well, the mouse was found dead in the toilet. I guess my mistake was taking him out into the fire? Should've just taken the fire underneath the toilet huh? Could've had two nice birds but didn't take my nephew with me for youth mentored spring gobbler... ill try and get them this weekend.

You might want to start on some kind of pro-biotic routine. If your digestive system is unable to break down a simple mouse, you may have diminished enzymes that could use a little help. In return, you should no longer have to worry about undigested mice clogging your toilet.

It appears your not a great cook. You don't even have the marinate process right. Next time try one in a bag with soy sauce and brown sugar. It's a good thing you burnt it as it would have tasted like #*#* anyway.

Posts: 841 Location: Southwest PA | Cut me some slack! I've never cooked mouse before lol why don't one of you come by and show me how to do that. While your here for mice cooking lessons, you may as well teach me how to muskie fish too and Todd, you can give me trolling lessons! I could use all the help I can get...
