Posts: 770 | So i was looking for ideas for somthing to keep baits off of the boat floor and to hold some of my tools while im casting. I used to be the guy that at the end of the day my 10-15 favorite lures were laying on the floor of my boat because i switched them out so often. Well i took some time this weekend and built a hanger for the front of the boat. Its made out of 1/4 plexiglass and has some holes drilled every 1.5". It also has a slot for muy pliers and file (not pictured). In the picture its holding half of the baits it has the capacity for. And for fun i threw what i guess you could call my starting lineup on there for the picture. Let me know what you think. Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

Posts: 1751 Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Looks like a good way to get hooked to me. Every bait they isn't on a rod goes back in the box. Saw a friend get one in the leg with 5 tines of 3 treble hooks past the barb. It only takes one expensive ER bill to learn and a phone call to a friend with knipex before he had his own set. If I didn't show up at the hospital, they were going to cut them out with a scalpel because they had nothing to cut them with. Bad idea to store baits like that IMO.

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | Nice concept but to many exposed hooks for my liking . I use a pedestal holder from just encase .i would rather be safe then sorry. Get a piece of plexiglass to put in front protect the hooks and still see what you have hanging .just a thought.

Posts: 866 Location: NE Ohio | ^^^^^^^^ YEP! i just use a plastic milk crate with vinyl rain spouts in it, keep it close to me but out of the way on the deck and hang baits inside it after use. no way to get hooked on them and portable to use if i switch boats.

Posts: 444 Location: Duluth, MN | I used to store lures like that...its very convenient but not worth the risk. One wag of a dogs tail and your cutting hooks out. I took all the lure hangers out of boat. All lures go back into the just encase when they come off the leader.

Posts: 3508 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | I think this is a great idea for organization. The location of the baits isn't bad as it is right up front. I would, however, agree with the sentiments of others that there are a bunch of hooks that you can get into if you happen to slip and fall, or just step wrong. A quick modification I could see here would be to get another piece of lexan, mount it vertically (using L brackets) in front of the baits, far enough in front to slide the baits in. That way you would have protection from the baits, while having quick access to them at the same time. Steve
