Great trolling baits. Looks like there is a mix of medium and deep lips. I seem to have better luck trolling the medium lipped ones. Never casted any of the deep lipped ones.

Your last post talked about using 1 1/2" -2" lures! The monster shad are excellent lures, but are more like 4 1/2- 5" baits.

Sounds like you may have met Santa Claus. Anyone would be a fool to turn down free monster shads. Consider yourself lucky!!!

This old timer sounds a lot like my buddy Christian who helped me get the musky bug, gave me advice on structure fishing through introducing me to buck perry and went over solunar tables with me, controls & triggers, gave me books to read and lures to use. Great guy. I caught my first musky shortly after talking with him, listening and taking his suggestions. I had to get a new phone and lost his number though. Oh well, good luck with this old timer! You're very fortunate brother. And those are some dandy lures, still in the package and everythong!

You hit the Monster shad lottery if those are the pre through wire ones and they look like they are. The only thing I would advise is to pin the diving lips on those relics. The glue looses strength with age and I've had lips pulled out on several. none since I started pinning them. great baits. You got a Hell of a friend. If you get tired of them PM me. There are colors I'd love to have. 40 ft, back on 50lb braid w/deep diver will get down 12-15 ft.

You are exactly right they are the old ones with the through wire on them...He told to use nail acrylic like super glue to strengthen the lips and help hold them in...What exactly do you mean by pinning the diving lip?? thanks alot

Yes I was talking 1.5-2inch which is what had me so confused on the topic..Then he shows up to my Job with this box of 5inch Monster Shad Bagley baits with Med Lips and Large Lips and Im thinking in my head OK now this makes since to Me...5 inch I can understand...I do consider myself very grateful and Blessed to have met this man...He is in his 70's and maybe he gets confused a lil but seems to be very bright and on top of things I cant wait to receive more knowledge from this man seems very intelligent about the sport....

I'm not a vintage bait guy at all but in the 5-10 minutes of research I just did on bagley monster shads, I've concluded that you've gotten the best deal in the world of fishing, or the guy trying to sell this one (link) is on drugs.

A little over priced^^^^^^^Going rate is between $20 to $40 on E-Bay depending on condition and color. The brass ones are worth the most.
