Posts: 19 Location: Buffalo, NY | I picked up the green stick this year; only due to a 20% off coupon at Gander Mountain (works online, even though it shouldn't with St Croix). Main difference is the Torzite guides, allegedly better for casting. Weight difference is negligible, but I just use one casting Rod so I thought I'd splurge. Those Torzite guide are a $190 up charge if you're building a custom Thorne Bros Rod. If you used the same blank and try to build it to spec with Thorne, it's more expensive than buying a LTE. With 20% off saving $110; paying $440 for the LTE seemed close enough to the cost of a Big Nasty I felt good about the purchase. Wait for the coupon in the email from Gander and go for it. Half of the game is confidence, so if it feels right- do it. That's just my casting Rod, my tube dragging/jigging Rod I stick with the Tackle Industries Rod, fast action for jigging, and I won't cry if I break it on a snag. (Despite the fact I've begged James to quit chasing Bass and Walleye Anglers, and update the darn Musky rods already, it's been 3 years!!) Sadly I think TI just dosnt see the $ in producing anything new for Musky anglers. TL;DR at 20% off, do it- but only for casting. Big Rubber/Brute force spend the money elsewhere.

Posts: 668 Location: mercer wi | If you were blind folded, the only difference would be the weight, and that because the guides. Both blanks respond the same. The palming reel seats are a little diffrent.

Posts: 1000 | Got the elite only because I had a smoking deal on it. Otherwise I'd totally buy a big nasty instead.
