Posts: 462 Location: Syracuse, Indiana | Caught a 45" and a 37" out of Webster 2 weeks ago. The bigger fish came off the first weed break, and the other came trolling open water. I've been back twice since (about 2 hours each time) and haven't seen a fish, although I have marked many in open water areas. Haven't been to Tippe or Barbee for a month, but have heard reports of open water trolling 10" Jakes being successful on both. I usually get good information at Ye Olde tackle Box in Webster. You may want to stop in there first. Good luck.

Posts: 462 Location: Syracuse, Indiana | I was told the DNR limited the weed kill this year. I do not believe the lake has recovered from last year. When the weeds were wiped out in 2002, all that nitrogen, phosphorous, and other "fertilizer" that would otherwise have been tied up in weeds instead grew algae. There is still a huge amount of "gunk" in that lake. The weeds I encounter are long and stringy, and do not appear healthy (although the skiers and boaters cut them enough to make trolling difficult). That said, I believe the DNR is watching the matter more closely, the local property owner's association does not want to harm the lake quality, and there are fish to be caught. I continue to hope the "good ole days" are still ahead.

Posts: 544 Location: Alsip, Il | I was there last thursday. Very slow, I only had one follow but it was a decent fish mid. forty inch size. Like the prevous post only weeds are stringly junk. It does seem like they did another weed kill because there was more weeds on the flats a month ago when I last fished it. The lake is nothing like it was two years ago. I don't is to blame fishing pressure, weed kill, boat traffic or weather conditions or combination. God Bless, Al P.S. I still think it is best spot within a three hour drive of Chicago for a shot at a fifty incher.

Posts: 202 Location: Angola, IN | Like I said in my "Crazy Weekend Story" post on the main board....I caught 2 fish....both around 32". They came in approx. 8' of water near the islands just south of Echo Bay on Webster. I was trolling a jointed Loke. I won't be fishing this weekend. Next weekend, I'll be on LOTW with a ton of guys from this site....and hopefully, I'll catch a fish to take Painter off the front page!!!

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Doc I saw you on barbee last weekend. I was in a red and white Triton bass boat. We didn't see much on Barbee sat so we went to my least favorite lake, Webster. Got one 34" on a Doc which skyrocketed out of 20FOW 2ft into the air with the bait.

Posts: 291 Location: Mokena, IL | Went out yesterday, saw/talked to a fellow Muskiefirst fisherman. Caught another small fish at Barbee and saw 2 others. Boy was it hot. Had to jump in the lake twice just to keep going. Doc
