Posts: 3157 | How many of you guys have tried this one and what is the formula for this current trend How long of a boil How long to soak the tail to get it the right consistency Where do you pull at the base, middle or tip of tail How much more length is gained I know you get more supple action. Wanna try it but don't want to end up with two pieces.

Posts: 1023 | I did this to a stiff Medussa to soften it up. It worked well. Not a huge difference. Just softened up enough to work slower in colder water temps. I let it sit in the preboiled water a while. They will not melt. I don't think u will get much extra length just a softer tail.

Posts: 9 | I've boiled softbaits to make them soft again quite a number of times. Note that softbaits that are 2colours, might come loose if you boile too long. Don't know if you can stretch the rubber to make it longer. Never tried this. Only did it to make shads with bend tails straight again

Posts: 1148 | I've never heard of this boiling method before but quite interesting. I have noticed different colors or even different lots of the same color big n grubs can vary a lot in hardness. I may have to give this a try.

Posts: 410 Location: With my son on the water | Seriously? I never heard of this either but as I am typing this I am also thinking what pot to us. Do you throw the whole bait in. Any more details how to do this is appreciated. Thanks Brad

Posts: 1100 | I first heard of it from Ben Olsen, when i was on leech lake with him 4 years ago. I let the head stick up of the pot, as i can fit more tails into the mix.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | I haven't done it to dawgs or Medussas but have been doing for the past 15 years or so to my Fin-S minnow for jigging walleye in the DR. I only put in the tail section in boiling water for a couple of minutes then give the tail a pull with pliers to stretch it a little & this helps give the tail more action with less movement of the bait.

Posts: 1023 | IMO the newer dawgs are perfect as is. The new medusas are too stiff for my liking. This will also straighten bent Baits.
