Posts: 134 | Just thought I'd share an update after the first time out with the new Ultrex. I have ran a Fortrex for years. Drove to a power plant lake to give it a try and catch some wipers. Here are my thoughts. 1. It's awesome why didn't they do this along time ago. 2. Spot lock is as accurate as they say if not better. 3. The motor that turns the unit makes some noise, no more than a terrova 4. It turns extremely fast * Almost a draw back, foot pedal is very responsive/touchy, easy to get used to. 5. Bracket for stow and deploy is just as easy and nice as fortrex (same bracket) 6. As an installer running extra items (downscan transducer and hydrowave) it is tough to get the extra cable amounts right to allow for movement. 7. going from a 101 to this 112 the motor is noticeably quieter. 8. Used it in the discharge current and hit spot lock while going downstream and it went right back to the spot, did nice turns and didn't try to throw me out in the process. Very smooth. 9. follow instructions for new heading sensor calibration, very easy. 10. Used the new jog feature. works awesome able to adjust on the spot very easily without hassle. 11. Price tag for one of these is a lot but after running one I would be willing to spend lots more just to have one.

Posts: 134 | I have a recessed foot pedal and it's not to bad. Fished out of my other boat in Texas last week with it mounted to the deck and it seems like the buttons do get bumped sometimes. Otherwise for me I could do with out the heading button and the continuous button, I all really would need is the spotlock button because you can do the rest of those features from the remote much easier. Having spotlock easily to use is great. I went and did some night fishing last night and I will be calling Minnkota to see if there is a night mode, the lights on the pedal are way to extreme and the blinking light on the heading sensor is very annoying at night.

Posts: 134 | Just talked to Minnkota and there is no night mode. I also was the first person to call in with that complaint. (supposedly) I guess I will be taking tape with me in the boat for night fishing. $2700.00 trolling motor requires 10ยข masking tape to make it usable, sounds about right.
