Many seem heavier... And people have claimed they last longer making them closer to the same price as others that wear out faster.

I Fell for the hype and bought one. Wasn't anything special. Didn't see much difference between it and a Spanky. Luckily I got my dadson for retail can't belive there is guys paying over $70 for them.

Like figure 8 said, you are probably better off going with spanky, very high quality and you can customize them however you want.

They are heavy, built to last, and are fish catchers. But so are others.

I myself really like Kramer Bros bucktails.

they all work, but I have as much confidence in Dadsons as any other bucktails I own...with quite a few 50"+ inch fish in the boat with a Dadson stuck to their mouth, I'll keep chuckin' em! Use what works and you have confidence in....

They're basically a spanky with thinner blades..
If you hold them next to each other they are made with almost the same components.
Thick wire big clevises, beads instdead of a solid weight.. You can buy almost 3 spanks for $70

check out Rabska musky lures on facebook. Built as heavy duty as they come, in any colors you want, for about half the price of Dadsons.

I bought one and it caught fish. After using it maybe 30 or so hours one of the clevises broke making it a single blade. I brought it to the MN show and talked with one of the reps at their booth. Johnny wasn't at the booth because he was about to do his seminar. The guy took it and said they would send me a new one and took all of my contact information. I never heard from them so I sent them an email and never received a response. I have sent a couple other emails figuring they may have accidently deleted it and have never got a response. Needless to say that is the last dadson bucktail I will own. Complete lack of customer service.

I have had great success with Spankies and they are built extremely well.

Im not sure why people pay so much either. I was looking at them again yesterday. $40 plus shipping. I ordered one a couple years ago before the hype. It was ok. I traded it for a Lake X.

Yep and lake x isn't anything special, either.

I bought a Dadson 9mm and compared it to a Mayhem Jr Cowgirl:
- Dadson has thicker wire than the Mayhem (.6 vs .5) and bigger clevises (size 8 vs 6)
- The blades are exactly the same
- Dadson uses all beads, Mayhem uses beads plus a lure body; the distance from
clevis to flash is exactly the same
- Both use two ties of flashabou with the same length and amount of material, and a
spacer between
- Dadson has 3/4oz tail weight, Mayhem has 3/8oz tail weight (custom "heavyweight"
Mayhem version at TRO is 3/4oz)
- Both use similar 7/0 hooks, with shrink-wrap on the rear hook

Dadson 9mm is $40 at Musky Tackle Online:

Mayhem Jr Cowgirl heavyweight is $24 at Team Rhino Outdoors:
http://teamrhinooutdoors.com/collections/bucktails/products/copy-of...

And of course, all needed components to make either one are $12 at Rollie & Helen's:

I don't do facebook. A company probably shouldn't put their email address on their website if they don't intend to check it.

The difference to me is I can order the parts to make a dadson.. every piece except the little skull sticker for under well $20.. and build it in less than 10 minutes..

I'm not so good at making plastic topwaters..

Never saw the point in overpaying for any type of bucktail.

The blades spin everytime on the dsdson. It's even more evident comparing the lazer to the showgirl. It's hard for me to get the showgirl to spin.

I caught one fish on one of my lazers and the blades wouldnt open. Was a Monster 3 footer, so I shouldn't complain..lol.. I have wires laying around, rewired & clevised it for about a dollar... but to act like lazers blades spin and showgirls dont is humurous.. Every bucktail needs tweaking from time to time.. Wires and clevises are cheap..

Someone from the dadson bait company contacted me and is sending a bucktail. Cool to see a company come through and make things right. Hopefully the replacement bucktail produces as much as the one that broke.
