I love to throw the 8" depthraiders, and the big husky size cisco kids for open water fishing. What are your guys suggestions on a rod to throw only these lures and maybe some cranks similar to the depthraider. I need at least a 9' rod due to being raised up in the bow of the boat. I want a rod specific for just thsese baits as I throw them 70% of the time I am on the water. what is everybodys favorite rod for this type of application?

I throw all my cranks with my TI 9' xh telescopic rod. This rod has the perfect action (in my opinion) for working these lures, and loads up well to cast them a mile. If you want longer, TI makes these rods up to 10'6 in a telescopic model as well.

There is no 'best rod', everyone has differing opinions. I have 3 crank bait rods with and all have a specific purpose. One is a TI, one a Tooth Tamer, and one an Abu.

Thanks for all the responses, some good info! THANKS! I should have been a liitle bit more specific.. I will be strictly throwing crankbaits from 2.4 ounces to 4.6 ounces. Also when I fish these in deep water for the suspendos I don't get to carried away with ripping the lure in. I also love to countdown depthraiders and crank/jerk them in. With that being said I am trying to decide between the Thorne Bros. predator rod in the MH or the H action. I like that I can customize the length of rod and the butt section. What do the guys that have the MH or H or XH action Predator think would better suite my specific application? Thanks

If you go predator, I would suggest the H for those cranks. I have the handles on my full grip big nasty rods extended to 18.5" from Thorne Bros. Of all the rods I have owned, these have been the best for me. I throw 5" bakers A LOT and regular depth raiders that float and count down a lot also. IMO the MH would be too light to rip them at all.

I have a 9'8" XH Predator I use for pounders. I use it for cranks if I only bring a couple rods, but the big nasty seems to work better for me.

What RyanJoz said.
Predator H will be awesome for those baits.
