Posts: 983 | Ive been researching this reel and seems it would hold up to Musky fishing and they advertise on youtube fishing it with the omen musky rod for musky but spool seems borderline size wise...Think it only holds 150yds of 50lb braid so by time you get 80lb braid on it what it gonna hold 100yds just seems more if a heavy bass reel than musky reel but 30lbs drag unreal

Posts: 1000 | I own a few of their rods. Have been very impressed with the performance and the pricing. I agree with banning them for paying people to post reviews though. I see why they did it (up and coming company), but there are more transparent ways to drive attention to your products. SeaFoam did a real good job a couple falls ago with their Q&A around boat winterization. They drew attention to their product/brand, but in a way that added significant value to the forum members. It definitely worked on me.

Posts: 983 | Ive been really impressed with 13 fishing..dont have any of tehre reel but have 3-4 rods of theirs...bought a $180 muse gold walleye rod broke it first day rolled up in car windOW...registered the rod on their site sent back to them had new one within a week didnt charge me a penny and sent me free gifts. I was highly impressed and I really like their rods...have two omen musky rods and they are on par with Rods that cost much more than they do IMO

Or, do you think you're going to hook a fish that pulls that much line?

Posts: 983 | No I dont think either will happen even though my one rod I swear I can throw 80 yds plus....my thing is I back all my reel and wouldnt want to get into backing with a musky on and I feel smaller spool like that with heavy 80-100lb braid ( dont think you even get 100yds of 100lb on it..def not with backing) if there isnt enough line that your cast distance will really suffer especially if the Lure weight is but 1oz-1.5oz that all...I Havent seen the reel in person think that would help me with my opinion on if reel large enough or not... I did lil more reading and not sure if it mis print or something but think it said holds 150 or 180yds of 12lb braid maybe they meant mono not sure just questioning spool size on reel really want to see in person no store carry around me do you know if it will be at OHIO show this weekend

Posts: 1000 | i don't think i've hooked a musky further than 90' away. i usually only run maybe 200' of braid on my reels at any given time. the capacity of that reel is a non-issue for muskie fishing

It only takes a small amount of mono if you are worried about slippage. Other than that, I use backing to fill more of the spool up before putting braid on. Larger diameter=more inches per crank (although the amount is minimal). Mostly for me it's a cost effective way to fill the spool without wasting spendy braided line.

Or, do you think you're going to hook a fish that pulls that much line? Well, to bite on that question: No, I can't cast 100 yards, or 80. If a small line capacity is due to a narrow spool, then that can be a problem since there's no line pickup left at the end of a long cast with 80 lb. braid. Have experienced that with smaller size reels and 80 lb test before. If it's a wider spool and the only reason for decreased capacity is a shallower spool depth, that might actually be a smart design. Ok, carry on.

Ok, carry on. my point exactly and then if you want to back the reel before the braid then you might really be in trouble then you only have around 60yds braid and then you def could have problem...I just need to see the reel in person and that would help alot

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Actually I'm not sure I made that point. I'm not too interested in this reel, but if you are worried about line capacity: 13 fishing reel holds 240 yards of 12 pound. Abu Garcia Revo Toro 60S holds 250 of 14 pound. Not a drastic difference. 13 fishing reel says 180 yards of 55 lb test braid. That will probably get you well over 100 yards of 80lb braid on. I only put 75 yards of braid on my musky reels, and then reverse it the following year. P.S. You only need a couple yards of backing to keep the braid from slipping - backing isn't NEEDED for filling up the spool. P.P.S Musky fishermen can't cast 80 yards. The reel you are interested in should have plenty of line capacity.
