What reel do you guys have on your current Big Dawg? I am upgrading from a St. Croix Avid A300ac. This rod will be mostly used for bigger rubber and heavier baits. I want a quicker reel. I am not trying to throw blades but bigger baits with less resistance. Pondering the Daiwa Lexa original 300 or 400, any recommendations or advice greatly appreciated. I have thought of the tranx just don't want to deal with the weight.

Id go with the beast Revo Toro S or the LEXA 400HSP that picks up some line about 38 IPT

If you go with a Lexa, get the 400 not the 300. Put a Mag Dawg on a 300 and you'll cast half the spool off

Looking at the reels that are actually on the market now, i would get the Toro Beast 60 HS, (if the Tranx 500 isn't an option)

Beast 60HS and S60 both work great on my big dawg. Excellent setup. I prefer the multiple handles includes with the beast. If they are in the boat with you, the unbalanced power handle does a great job with double 10's. I use the dual paddle for everything else.

I have been very impressed with the Revo Toro Rocket so far. I have it paired up with the Big Nasty and it feels great.

Then you should get a smaller reel with a gear ratio of at least 6. something there are so many out there to chose from, this way the reel will pick more line. IPT inches per turn if I understand it right.
