When and how do you measure your catch? Do you measure your fish in the boat (out of the water) vertical/horizontal? Do you measure your fish in the net or when you are holding her for the release?
I like to do as much in the water as possible and am just wondering what everyone else does.

Thanks

I have a 56" ruler that can be held against the fish with a supported vertical or horizontal hold. I tried the floating stick, and found it OK for a very rough ballpark for an in the wtaer measure, but not real accurate. This way I can get a pretty accurate measure while holding the fish safely if there is another angler with me, and get agreement that we both see the same measure. If anything, this measures short because the fish is not  on the floor laying on the stick nad probably isn't exactly straight. Close enough for me..
