I fish the lakes on the WI side (Bone, Deer, Cedar) quite a bit and have always heard of local ski men fishing the St. Croix. I'd like to start fishing the river as it gets much less pressure, for muskies anyways, than the lakes do. Just wondering where to start, Hudson? Stillwater? Marine on S.C. or farther north yet? Thanks for everything. Still being a pretty novice muskie angler I always appreciate all the info shared on MF.

That is the $1,000,000 question!

I've heard that the marina's are a good place to start. Other then that I've heard to just pick a shoreline and cast right to the shore and bring your bait out. I've also heard to use small bucktails with large blades. Aside from that I have no idea. I know they're in there, but it's still a bit of an enigma.

Woody, a buddy of mine caught a 50"er at the confluence of the Sunrise river last summer. He was fishing for smalljaw in a johnboat with a jet motor. I fished Stillwater to Taylor Falls last summer with nothing happening. Good luck!

I think the MInnesota Outdoors, or something along those lines has an article on best musky fishing spots in MN and gives a brief outline of the Croix.
