Okay, here's the scenario...big cranks in the fall...Revo Toro Beast or Tranx??? If Revo, which model? Big bucktails...Double 10's...Revo Rocket or again Tranx??? I'm assuming high speed Tranx for the bucks and the power model for the big cranks...my head hurts from all the various models...a good problem to have for sure...just looking for honest opinions...I've been using a Saltist and am in the position to upgrade...figured I'd keep the Saltist for big rubber and topwater...many thanks in advance!!!

Read all the reel posts carefully from this year, and then handle each reel yourself. Buy the reel you like.

I certainly appreciate that response...For the sake of the facts...I work 90-100 hours a week in the oil and gas industry...so I sleep instead of read...when I am able to come home, I'm just looking to go fishing...Put it this way...it took me 8 years to register on this forum!

Not to hurt your head with more models, but as a cost saving alternative, consider the abu garcia revo toro s 60. Half the price of a tranx. I use on for 10's, 8's, and big cranks. Makes bringing in those heavy 10's easy. You can palm this reel as well, and it's comfortable to fish all day.

If you have the money to spend on the Tranx HG and PG and they fit your hands do it. They are a far superior to any other reel out there, its not even close.

I will second the Abu Garcia Revo Toro S 60. I currently have this reel on the 3 different rods. Look for this reel on sale this coming holiday season. The Tranx and Beast are great reels. I was able to buy 3 Revo Toro S 60's for the price of Tranx. My 2 cents, I am no expert.

Tranx will feel huge when you check it out at the store. It takes about 3 minutes of use to get over that. The HG is a tank for blades and so far working great throwing rubber. I have 0 remorse for buying it and plan on getting a PG next. I haven't used my Toro S once since I got the tranx this summer. It does everything I've needed it to do thus far.

Tranxs and tranxs. Always used abu reels and loved everyone, but bought a tranxs and now thats all i use. But i like the pg for 10 and 13. Hg for everthing else. Good luck and good shopping.

Another vote for Tranx. Get a couple if you can... I have two PG and one HG. PG for anything that doesn't require a ton of speed or quick line recovery. HG for those that have the need for speed and fast line recovery.

I was a skeptic of the tranx at first if it was actually worth the price tag it has. Being that it is $100 more than the beast; but this year I broke down and bought a tranx. Now I'm not looking back been selling all my other reels to get more tranx reels. Believe the hype these reels have you won't be disappointed!!

Went from a tranx pg to a beast 60 4.9:1. That gear ratio and the 27IPT are wonderful for 8's on up to 13's, even with the paddle handle. I tend to locate more fish in the metro with a slower retrieve

beast 60 4.9:1(27ipt) or toro S 60 - big blades, everything
beast 60 6.3:1 (34ipt) - cranks, jerks, topwater, rubber, blades to an extent
toro rocket - rubber and screamin baits

This is what I'll be running next year after I refresh my line up. I generally describe myself as a shimano guy and I LOVE this new line of toros.

I have 3 other high end reels and I never really EVER put down my thanx Hg... I can use it virtually for anything. I don't have big hands either I do not really find it overly big. I was used to it after 15 min which alot of others have said. I think there is a reason that the reel hasn't changed since it came out.... If it ain't broke why fix it.

seems as heavy and big is the rods and reels alot of people like , i really like fishing with the shimano calcuttta 401d
its smaller and lighter and preforms wonderfully and yes i throw double tens with these all day long
but everyone is different. the best is try for yourself if you can

I only have 2 setups, a 9’ XH Predator with a Tran PG that I throw everything but jerk baits with and a jerk bait setup, probably 75% of the time I have the Tranx setup in my hands. As previously mentioned, it feels a little weird at the beginning, but you get used to it, I wear a size medium glove and I don’t feel it’s too big for me, but then again others do…

Tranx..no ifs ands or buts.... I would say the one Caveat is if you have really small hands and like to palm but...First time you open one up and take a look at how they are built you will see why. I abuse the crap out of mine for everything and have only replaced a click spring and an anti reverse pawl in an almost every weekend of use scenario last few seasons....
I like the Toro S for the money also. Great reel. Lexa ok for 200-250 range also although i have replaced a few more parts in those.

I have the beast and love it cant even feel dawgs or big blades...I dont like size of Tranx and can buy beast for about half the price..My brother uses the LEXA-PWR and it is awesome imo...i also really like the revo toro S great reel if you dont wanna spend Beast money...
I wouldnt even consider the Tranx for the price When the LEXA-PWR is similiar in size its def good bit bigger than beast and half the cost I would go that route if you want bigger reel just MY OPINION
