I am headed to Mille Lacs 11-11-16, been on the water one time earlier this year(July) but mostly chased smallmouth. We are going back up in a couple of weeks for a quick 3day trip. Having never fished it in the fall just wondering what I might look for or watch for. Not going to be using suckers, casting only. It is going to be more of a smallmouth trip for us again, but plan on hitting some of the better times(majors and minors etc.) and make casts on good looking spots. Everything I read on here about ML doesn't have my hopes to high but still going to give it a try. Thanks for any help.

LOL, yeah that last water temp post....
The muskies probably will be around the smallies, I would be fishing rocks right now trying to find all the Cisco. When you are in the ciscos you will snags them and they show up on the electronics really nice.
Warm weather coming up which could keep those muskies deeper off the rocks then usual for this time of year.
Might also be worth checking the weeds on the west and North end as they still might be holding fish.

My son and I were up there from Thursday thru Sunday. The temps started out at 49 degrees but dropped to 46 by Sunday. If you fish Mille Lacs you know the winds play just as big of a role and they were gusting to 30 mph Friday morning out of the north and northeast. Most guys were trying to avoid it by fishing the north shore but winds calmed down in the afternoon and we launched out of Eddys mid morning. There were very little evidence on the graph of any baitfish on the rocks but we did find some in the weeds. The wind never calmed down on Saturday, as it shifted to the south. We fished reefs and weeds and did start to see the baitfish appear mid afternoon and even caught a tullibee over rocks. We spoke to a few guys who had been up there all week and had not caught a thing which can happen often on ML. A week ago the baitfish had been staging outside the rocks but the warmer temps sent them and the muskies back off it.

Sunday started off by hearing rumors a big fish was caught but I'll wait a while to see if that materializes on the net Baitfish started appearing on the graphs as the lows in the 30s dropped the water temp. The full moon did not bring any success to us but it was still a blast to try to catch the big girl. We spoke to numerous musky guys that never saw a fish for days. Be careful out there as the winds changes often and a guy can get in trouble if he has to return to a boat ramp too far away. Respect the wind and launch out of the right launches and you will be fine. Some of the docks are pulled so bring waders or just find a boat ramp that is safer. This lake is always a gamble, higher temps may send them back out, cooler weather may bring a jackpot, if you are lucky!

Not a ton of bait sliding up but some in the evening yesterday. Water temp still way warm but the moon must have had some impact on the bait as this was the first time i had really seen it slide on top at all.
