Hey all,
Just got a couple of Wade's Wobblers (Deep running), I've only used Suicks in the past and wondering if anyone has any tips/clues on how to fish these bad boys. Are they just standard Dive/Rise or is there anything that needs to be done different?
Or are they like Suicks where you can't really fish them wrong?

Any input appreciated,
RandalB

'suicks... can't really fish them wrong'... I certainly can. I tune and tune and tune suicks and I can't get them right. Wobblers however, I snap one on and instant satisfaction. I run the wobblers on a straight dive/rise retrieve and they work well. I like the sandcat too.

I like the wades wobbler in stained water, low light conditions and colder water. It backs up on the pause and a nice dive and rise action but not too erratic for the conditions i mentioned above.

Don't over think when working the wades. Dive and rise that generally stay straight. One to two foot pulls of the rod. I would add bucktail to the back hook if it doesn't already have it. They get even better after a half hour or so as they retain water.

Wades Wobblers are my favorite dive/rise baits. I like to use as more of a "chop bait" than a "pull bait": aggressive, sharp jerks followed by accentuated pauses. They are wood baits, so there is some variance in action bait-to-bait; the best ones will have the most "back up" on the pause/rise with the sharpest jerk. They do come in rather straight, but there is a bit a "wobble" to the action...(hence the name). I like the unweighted ones the best, in all sizes, as the buoyancy assists in the "back up" on the pause. The weighted versions that you have are good too; I tend to use those the same way, but also with a more traditional jerkbait retrieve. Overall, its true that they are hard to use incorrectly.

This is great stuff guys, I'm one of the "Suickly challenged", can't seem to tune one right for the life of me...

39, you mention putting a buck tail on the end hook, new one to me, just swap out the end hook and split ring a buck tail in its place?

Thanks guys!

Or do you mean put 10 strands 2" long on it? Like the feather in a xrap?

Sorry I can't resize and post a picture. Strands of bucktail hair tied to the rear treble. Like an x rap but with more material tied to the rear treble.

I had some time so I went through a box of old buck tails and found one that looked like the same size hook and split ringed it on to the tail...
I'll give it a try and LYK how it works

Yes that's it. You will be surprised at the different look it gives the bait. My buddy bought some that way and now i have converted all of mine like you just did. Good luck.

Some have two small spinners off the back. Bucktail on the rear hook would impede them spinning. I know this lure came with and without them.

39 degrees gave ya a good tip,,Wades are made here in Minnesota by Wade Witt up by leech lake, guite a few local guys and well known guides use these. Most like the little bucktail on the back he puts on or you can add yourself some also load the threads up with scent, when the lure backs up on pause the bucktail and scent is right there in their face on a following fish, the spinner blade ones were his Wisconsin model anglers seemed to want those.
You need a very thin short tail just a few strands not a bushy bucktail size or it restricts action, maraboo works good too I'm trying some with flashaboo now. Just tie it in doesn't have to be perfect you don't have to cut original hook off. tie a glob on then fish with it and pull out strands until you get the action you like.
