| For those in the know about rods. What's the real practical difference for fishing when using a fast action rod vs. a medium fast action rod.
I'm particularly concerned when using Jerkbaits where most of the fish are taken on the pause.

| Fast action refers to the amount of the rod that flexes. A fast action will flex farther down the blank than an extra fast blank, and less than a moderate action blank. Heavy, medium, light, ultra light refer to the power of the blank. So, a medium fast action blank will be a medium power with flex in the top third of the blank in general. Obviously a musky rod in a medium fast action will have more power than a walleye/ bass rod in a medium fast action. |

Location: Smith Creek | I like a fast action, rips through weeds better and allows you to give the bait more movement. |

Location: Florida | I prefer a fast action rod when using large lures( most Muskie lures, big swim baits, etc) and a medium action rod/medium fast action rod when using small/medium sized lures( most bass lures, most inshore saltwater lures). |
