From my understanding, there should be no play in the prop whatsoever. Almost sounds like a washer of some sort that is missing. If your castle nutdoes tightens all the way down to the end of the threads, something is missing..

thanks steve but there is nothing missing and i am trying to find a washer to take the slack off but i just cannot find the rigth size and the washer does put the prop at the right place so it is just a question of diameter of the shoulder of the thrustwasher that sits in the inner hub

How much is it moving thier should be no play between the prop and thrust washer with that hub. But the prop shaft will move a very little.

I asked about movement to my dealer after I took my boat home and gave it the once over -I sent him video of movement and he showed to mechanic and I was told that was correct-Still seems wrong to me but have run about 80 hours and no issue-this is a 2015 60 HP. Here is a video of a few clips put together (some sort of static on volume so turn it down)

The prop may move an eighth of an inch or so when you grab it and pull on it.

it is side play between the inner hub and the forward thrust washer that had me worried
