just picked up a ranger 620 with a merc 15hp pro kicker it only does 4.2 mph full throttle on the kicker on a flat calm day. does anyone know what prop id need to get a higher top speed out of it. i usually troll close to 5mph and id like to have some more throttle need for choppy days any info would be great

I would look here if you have a 10x7 you would need to increase pitch depending on the speed you are trying to achieve. You could try a 9 1/4 x 10 or 11 http://www.boats.net/propellers/Mercury/9.9/Pro%20Kicker%20%2814%20...

Thats just crazy something has to be way out of whack. Is the motor height goofy or something to the point its cavitating? My T8 Yammie gets the 621 moving close to 6mph gps with the stock prop. (calm conditions of course)That 15 should have no problem at all.

Yeah something seems not right I have a 9.9 Johnson on my 620 and I get 6mph out of it on a calm conditions so a 15 hp should easily move a 621. Check your set up, maybe line on the propshaft? Hub in prop slipping?

I had to trade my Yamaha T-8 for a 9.9 just to get the boat barely over 5 MPH on my 08 621...
