| New boat so need two graphs. I was going with two 9" Helix should I go slightly bigger on dash and a little smaller up from.Trying to keep costs in perspective. Any advice appreciated.

Two 9s would rock, especially if you are using the bow unit regularly. The 7 is a great unit and very readable, but of course the 9 is better! |

| i just studied helixs and the 9 have same pixel counts as 7 and 5 so if you can afford it the 10s have more pixels +the hd transducer and same exterior size as 9s ! |

| I have a Helix 7 on the bow and it's plenty readable. I'll put a 9" Helix on the console next year when I get a new boat, but only because I want a SI unit.

Location: St. Germain, WI | I went with 2 helix 9s, Side imaging at the helm and sonar GPS at the bow. You cannot network the helix 5 and helix 7, only the 9, 10 ,and 12. I am going to upgrade the SI transducer from the compact to the SIHD transducer. |

Location: Tinley Park, IL | I have 7" graphs on the bow and console and they are plenty big for me. As long as you are not used to a 9" screen, you'll be fine. You could also have a Balzout or comparable graph holder that raises up the unit 6". I think 7" is plenty fine at the console. This is a good place to save some money. I was at Cabela's earlier this year looking at units and I came to the conclusion that a 7" is big enough for me. Now if money is obstacle..... |

Location: Contrarian Island | I use to run 2 5"ers at my bow... in theory 2 5" screens is like one 10 right? once I went to 1, 10"er at the bow no way I'd go back to 2, 5s or even a 7 or 9... once you go big you'll never go back.... I like the larger size especially on complex structure, last week on lotw we ran my 10" just on GPS at the bow and had a 7" for sonar up there and it was nice to see 'the whole picture' on the 10"... go as big as your budget will allow... goes for boats, motors, and electronics!

Location: West Central Wisconsin | I was just in the same position except I was going to put the 9 on front (because when I'm standing its is further away) and a 7 on the console. For me the 7 was large enough at the short distance. But when I learned you couldn't network the 7 and that it doesn't have some of the preset features, I decided on two 9's. But then... I realized the 9s and 10s chew up the same real estate so entered into negotiations with the finance dept. (a.k.a. wife) and ended up with two 10s to get the higher definition. |

Location: MN | Additionally, you will also have the added benefit of AutoChart Live on a Helix 9/10/12. It allows you to map a lake in real time as you fish, even overlay it on top of existing map data from LakeMaster or Navionics.
I became a big believer in Autochart Live this year. I included a screen snap of how I mapped out the depths on an uncharted lake, found the depth of the weed line with 2D sonar and then followed the contour with the Terrova with i-pilot link. We put 2 fish in the boat in 25 minutes because we knew where to position the boat a kept ourselves from aimlessly wandering and running over the weed line.
