Hi guys, finally got an up north fishing trip in this year after a couple of years off Business obligations seem to cut into fishing time.

Didn't find a lot of reports on Cliff Lake or Cedar Lake Ontario, so I figured someone might come along and a report will be of a little help.

Fished 3 days on West side of Lac Seul for pike and walleyes. Eyes were scattered, but I found a few on a Lindy rig in 20' on breaklines. Seemed like the fish were scattered, but I'm not much a of walleye fisherman. Leeches and crawlers both worked about the same. Pike action was slow everyday early and improved in the later afternoon. Finally found a few over slot fish on the last day in a big cabbage bed COVERED in filamentous algae. We let the eyes go and ate a few pike.

Fished Cedar Lake 7/27. Hot and sunny. Camp owner game us his milk run spots and suggested bucktails. Found no fish on rocks. One follow from a mid lake weed bed between two islands near the end of the day. Fair amount of boat traffic, and saw a few other muskie fishermen. Rough day only one follow!! The public boat ramp was TRASHED. Wallowed out sand at the top and 1' deep ruts down the ramp that someone filled with firewood to keep from high centering their rig. Launched from Darren & Merri's camp for $10 - good launch and no problems.

Fished Cliff Lake 7/25 and 7/29. Day 1 - ran the camp owner's milk run spots. No fish spotted on rock spots early. Caught a dink trolling along a rock wall. One nip and follow from a short fish on a bucktail late. 4 follows. One 26" dink in the boat. Very humbling day.

Day 2 - Sunny and hot again. Tried the same thing with nothing to show in the am, and tried trolling both deep and spinners in weed beds too - zilch. Found a big weed bed right off the main channel and decided to try a 9" weighted Suick. One small nipper and a follow came right after. The Suick was the only thing shaking them loose so I kept it tied on the rest of the day. Saw 9 fish - one in almost every decent weed bed. Partner fishing bucktails had only 1 follow. Biggest fish we saw was around 40", no big girls. Finally tied into a small fish (30") on the Suick on the very last spot of the trip. Deep weed edge right off the main channel.

Cliff's public launch was closed due to road crews pulling water. Launched at Cliff Lake RV resort right on 105. Leo that runs the place is a nice guy, plenty of parking, and a good ramp and dock. Worth the $10.

A 26" and 30" doesn't make much of a muskie trip, but it was nice to be back at it after not fishing ski's for a couple years.
