Posts: 213 Location: FIB land | Life certainly is good for you bro' ! Good problem to have. I have that problem regarding work, so I push through work. You just need a little rest then go out for evening bite, and an enjoyable partner always helps... Smile !!

Posts: 63 | Definitely have had those days on the water. When it occurs I just find an island with a nice sandy beach, pull out the lawn chair, relax and take in the scenery.Sometimes just do a little exploring on the island and take photos of wildlife, eagles, white pelicans or anything else that looks interesting. Also have taken an afternoon nap on some of those islands after a refreshing swim.

Posts: 1168 | Do years count? The past few years I've been ready to put my boat away by mid June. Bring on the ice fishing season. Ever since we jumped headfirst into making maple syrup the next "thing" to do is open water fishing. It's been a letdown and doesn't come remotely close to the enjoyment to be had cooking sap.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | It happened to me 2 weeks ago. Got to the lake and was second guessing where I should have launched. Every cast I was bringing in weeds then 1/2 way through the second drift I decided to pull the boat out & drive to another ramp. On my way to the ramp I got pulled over. Cop asked how my day was going & I said, "Great until I seen you". 2 guys drove past me pulling a boat & they were laughing at me for being pulled over. Cop let me off & just said to be careful. As I continued to the ramp I seen those 2 guys again heading back the other way. I got to the boat ramp only to be turned away because the ramp was full. On my way back I see those 2 guys again but this time I was the one laughing because the cop had them pulled over. Launched the boat at a different ramp only to return an hour later because I just wasn't feeling it & was kicking myself for not bringing the bass gear along.

Posts: 1828 | I haven't had that happen exactly, but I know what you're talking about. One rule I'm trying to live by regarding fishing: When it's not fun anymore, stop and do something else. I'm not out there to work or prove anything. Fishing is meant to be a fun hobby. So if ever it's not fun, I change something up to make it fun again, or just stop for the day. Now I haven't casted in 4 weeks so I'd give anything to be out right now.

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | i agree with balancing things out ... add smallies especially when the heat comes, then we do a week long trip to Lake Michigan salmon and smallie fishing with the single goal to have a bunch of smoked salmon for the ice shack and yesterday we went fishing for lake trout as a change of pace and were successful. in the fall the LMB topwater and crappie-fest return and soon (right now in-fact) it's time to get dogs in-shape and ready for the grouse and pheasant season. the boat is second choice in the fall ... then Thanksgiving and whitetails followed hopefully immediately by ice fishing and the cycle repeats itself with as much outdoor diversity as possible. single minded outdoorsmen are missing the point ...

Posts: 8863 | It has. Some days you get out there and start casting and you just aren't feeling it. Beating the water to a froth all day when nothing is moving used to be fun. These days I'd much rather hang up the musky gear for a few hours and catch some supper, have a sandwich, take a swim and wait until something changes.

Posts: 400 Location: Metro | I have been having this issue the more and more I realize when you aren't seeing fish it isn't always what you are doing wrong. I had a lot of time to hit the water and put confidence in myself the past couple of years. Now if it is really nice out and you are "working" and not having fun I think twice. Yes we all want to catch as many fish in a summer as we can but really what are you trying to prove? I find myself not wanting to get burnt out from the joy of musky fishing. If I keep going as hard as I am now I am afraid I might. As the other guys said it is all about balance.
