Posts: 3 Location: Rowan Lake, Ontario, Canada | Thanks Steve for posting those pics! Kris Alexander here from Nielsen's Fly-In Lodge! Yes, we are in our first season here on Rowan Lake as the new owners of Nielsen's Fly-In Lodge. Our family has had blast so far taking over things up here and we are excited about the future of our new business on this awesome lake! Here's our first MuskiesFirst Rowan Lake Fishing Report: Early Season Fishing The fishing was excellent. Early ice out lake trout fishing was fantastic. We had guests in shortly after our arrival into camp and the lake trout were on fire. You can check out our Facebook page and watch guests catching lakers right off the dock in camp! Muskie Opener The muskie opener was a success as many of our guests caught and released some really nice fish as shown in the pictures Steve W. posted below. Current Conditions Bass fishing been absolutely fantastic! Groups are catching 50-100 small mouth bass a day. We are getting more and more guests coming here to target the bass only now. We haven't had a huge number of muskie clients in camp here in July and the guests who are out putting time in on the water are finding active fish. With the recent heat wave, water temps have warmed up from 68 to upper 70's last week. We've also had plenty of heat and storms recently. The weed growth is a couple weeks behind what it should be for this time of year. With August here, some of the best muskie fishing of the season has yet to come. We have a lot of muskie fisherman and women in camp now through the end of Sept. **NEWS** We've extended our season that we'll be open to guests staying in camp into October, so chasing those big Rowan Lake muskies during the fall is now a reality. New Name Coming... Nielsen's Fly-In Lodge will be changing over to "Alexander's On Rowan Lake". We'll be officially rolling out our new name this fall for next season. The long standing success of Nielsen’s Fly-In Lodge will continue as the new era begins as Alexander’s On Rowan Lake! Due North Outdoors TV will be in camp next week Bill Sherck and his TV production crew will be in camp telling a unique story about the the fishing on Rowan Lake We recently sent our our latest updates on what's happening here on Rowan last week. You can find a link to our eNewsletter on our website. That's a quick update on what's happening here at Nielsen's Fly-In Lodge on Rowan lake. We plan to keep regular Rowan Lake muskie fishing updates posted here for the rest of the muskie season. ~ Cheryl, Pat and Kris Alexander The new owners of Nielsen's Fly-In Lodge Attachments ---------------- bass_2016.jpg (125KB - 446 downloads)

Posts: 51 Location: Mound, MN | I fished up there for 4 days for the opener. The Alexanders were fantastic hosts, very attentive to all our needs. We didn't spend much time at the main resort, but stayed in the outpost cabins and they had already put a ton of work into them, with more improvements planned. The fishing was as great as always. If you have a chance to make a trip to Nielsen's (or, more accurately, Alexander's... or Rowan in general...), I'd highly recommend it. The extended season is really intriguing!
