Location: Oconomowc, WI | The collar for the reel seat (the part you turn to secure the reel) is stripped. Right now I get it as tight as I can before it pops off the threads and put a hoseclamp in front of it. Just wondering if anyone's got a better fix for this. |

Location: Minnesota | Depending on how much you like the rod. I bought a predator rod from Thorn Bros. The next year the Tranx came out they cut the cork and reels seat off put on a biger one on works great. so yes it can be fixed all depends on how much you like the rod |

Location: Contrarian Island | get it as tight as you can before the stripped area, and use a bunch of electrical tape on the collar, before it on the exposed threads, and on it.... it should hold...one of my old Diamondbacks does that and the electrical tape holds it.... presto. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | You also might be able to use a single or double wrap of electrical tape (pulled tightly) right on the threads and that may hold for you as well. |

| I had the same problem. It was on an inexpensive rod so I couldn't justify too much repair cost. I did the same thing as you only with a thick zip-tie making sure the "clamp" end faced a direction that wouldn't be in the way. In addition to that, I put heated shrink tubing on each end of the reel foot for added thickness making the seat tighten earlier which helped a lot.

Location: Oconomowc, WI | Sounds good guys, thanks for the advice...I think I'll try a few of the quick fixes for now, then eventually replace the rod. After I replace it, I may experiment with changing the reel seat out. |
