Just returned from the NW Angle and it was pretty good! Water temps remained the same for the duration of the week 69 in the morning and some bays warming to 74 late in the day. Water levels are slightly above normal and due to rise slightly more this week. Water was a bit dirty and stained in the Windigo’s but clean the farther north you went. Tobacco cabbage was really good and in some places better than it has been in years.
Fishing was excellent for numbers in that we were seeing 20-30 fish a day and for us most of the fish were eating mid cast early in the week but more on figure 8’s towards the end of the week. Between two boats we put 54 in the boat. Lot of nice low 40” class fish and a handful of upper 40” fish. We were encountering many 50 plus inch fish almost daily but they tended to be on the lazy side. I would say that numbers wise it reminded me of lotw 10 years ago, it was fun!
Early in the week most west facing sand bays were holding the largest fish and they were grouped up. By the end of the week it was mainly a mid-lake reef bite but transition areas outside of the bays were holding fish as well and late in the day the warm bays still held fish. Fish also started to relate to the tobacco cabbage later in the week.
Small bucktails early in the week and double 8’s and 10’s at the end of the week. Great news is that the top water bite was the best I have seen in years!

Great report! Hopefully the action remains hot at least through next week. We're heading up on the 16th.
