Looking to invest in a better set of polarized glasses and looking for advice. My cheap ones work great in bright sun but are terrible in low light or overcast. Can someone suggest a specific lens color in the Cost or Smith line that works well in low light/overcast?

Thanks,
Joe

I had a pair of Costa glasses with the yellow lense. They did not cut much glare and I changed the lense to the fuse brand F30. I also have a pair of green mirror Costas as well.

I have the green mirror Costa's. Great lens except for low light.
Smith Optics Polarchromic Igniter lens is the best I have used for low light fishing.

low light definitely go with the H30 Polar clear lense, best low light lense I have used and I have used Smiths, Costas and Oakleys.....they let as much or more light in than those mentioned above .. and you can get the lense and frame alone for $35 ... no need to buy the other lenses....if you want to buy the ones that let the most light in, Kaenons w the C50 lense are the best low light lense as they allow 50% light transmission, the smith, costas etc will be maxed at 35%...Kaenons run 200 + retail tho....

Has anyone tried the sunrise or silver mirror Costa lenses for low light conditions?

I was actually looking today at purchasing the 580G Silver lens. I have currently have both green and amber sets. Curious to see if any guys use the silver.

I don't know how many pairs of Costas I have anymore but I know I have lenses in almost every color. My favorite are 580 blue glass, followed by green and then silver. I wear them as soon as the sun hits the trees in the morning to when it goes down. The silver lenses seem to do better in lower light situations and on cloudy days.

I have the Silver Mirror in 580G and they don't perform as I would expect for the price you pay. Still a lot of glare in Sunny conditions. Wish Costa sold replacement lenses so I don't have to buy a new pair to try the green mirror.

amber/brown tint is the best for waves/rough water and overall conditions. I have not seen a lot on mirror vs non-mirror effects.

I did a lot of research on glasses on the salt water forums, lot them guys prefer maui jim's. Costas seem to be lot like "Dadsons" and are the in thing. I'd suggest going to Cabela's or a similar store and try a bunch different brands. Different frames fit each person differently.

Ive tried costas and have to say the maui Jims are much better in my opinion. I use the brown/amber for overcast days and grey/dark for sunny days. I can spot following fish well before my boating partners using various other brands

I just scored a pair of Kaenons w the C50 lense on ebay for a smoking deal., I will see how they compare to the Polar Clear lense ...they 'should' be a better low light option...

I just picked up a pair of Costas with sunrise lenses. These lenses let in 30% of available light, the most for any lens Costa makes. It's suppose to be cloudy this weekend. I'll find out how they will work in low light situations.

I just picked up Oakley Prizm shallow freshwater. Not a big fan of the frame but the lense is nice.

This year I started using Maui Jims, I got the grey for sun, and the rose lenses for lower light. Like them both a lot, and they are very comfortable light weight. Best glasses I've used so far.

Maui Jim's HT (high transmission) lenses are great for low light situations.
