So excited about the two new rods for the coming season----

Im trying to decide which reel I should put on each--the high speed Revo Beast 6.2 will go on the Sling Blade ----the Beast 4.9 will go on the Nasty....

Anyone using this setup---or should I think about switching those around---Im guessing having the option of burning the double tens with the Sling Blade and high speed reel is appealing to me----(will burning the tens be doable with the high speed reel---or too much work?) and every other application and bait can be used with the Nasty--including slower rolling big blades.....or any type of large crank bait/minnow bait or mag dawg/etc...

I have a dedicated smaller blade/surface bait /glider/jerkbait setup...

Thoughts....

You want the 4.9 to burn 10's on softer rod
And the hs on the stiffer rod for the reels that you pull in slack line like dogs and crankbaits

A 4.9 is not going to BURN anything. And the Nasty is a much superior rod for throwing 10's

I'll race my 4.9 beast against 99% for an hour against 6.2. I'll be bulging baits. I couldn't burn a dbl8 for 30 minutes with my 6.2

I would also agree that the nasty is better for dbl10's. But it's also better for rubber and cranks...

I have both the slingblade and the nasty. IMO the slingblade is not a good big blade rod. It has too soft of a tip for my liking and makes for too much work trying to burn and is also to soft for great figure 8's. I have a PG on my Nasty for pulling big blades at normal speeds and an HG on a 9'6" shock n Awe Hulbert edition for big rubber and truly burning blades. My Slingblade has a NACL 6.4-1 on it for small blades, smaller crank baits and most surface lures. My recommendation would be to use the high speed on the nasty for line pick up on big rubber, big crank baits, and actually burning blades. The 4.9.1 would be better for slow rolling big blades at night on the sling blade. I've found that I really like the soft tip on the sling blade for smaller blades and smaller crank baits like depth raiders raking the bottom. Either way, this is just what works for me. Test them both out on different baits and see what you like best...

fishysam, not trying to start a debate but there is no way a 4.9-1 beast is designed to burn big blades. I thought so until I put a big custom handle on my HG...Id run that against anyone no matter how strong they are on a 4.9-1 beast and there is no way they could keep up...the 4.6-1 PG picks up a decent amount of line to get some speed going but even that isn't designed to "BURN". I realize you were referencing the beast HS against the 4.9-1 but if someone can put on a power handle and deal with the "burn" on their arms and wrists, there is no way to compete with that difference in line pick up. Different tools for different applications. Again, nothing personal just my experience with what I thought was burning blades and what is actually burning blades...

I'll echo what's been said. My PG can run blades pretty fast, but once you see an HG or saltist in action you'll understand the difference between fast and Burning.

On a side note, the 4.9:1 beast should be excellent for slow rolling big 10's deep

Yeah the season is almost here to mn, one day I'll see a tranx hg. But in the end we all have the rods and reels matched the same.

I forgot to mention---

I already have a Revo Toro Winch 4.6 on a Premier Sling Blade---and a Revo Torro 5.4 on a Premier Big Dawg.....

I thought it would be great to have the option of slow rolling at night with the Winch/Premier ---or faster high speed with the 6.4 Beast on the Sling Blade---and also have the longer rod Big Nasty with the Beast 4.9 for slow rolling and in between a fast and slow retrieve for Cowgirls/JRs.

My take after having used the Premier 8'6 H (3-8) is that it is an amazing Big Blade rod---Made for Cowgirls and JRs....and just the perfect crank bait/jerkbait/ surface bait rod as well.....I really like the 8'6 Premier XH (6-12) for Cowgirls as well....both great blade rods...

.If the Legend Tournament Slingblade is a little lighter and a little better balanced (a better over all rod) I will be ecstatic ----Im not expecting the Legend Tournament Sling Blade-Or Big Nasty to totally blow me away---Im hoping they do---but totally think the Premier series in the 8'6 H and XH---are the best most under rated rods on the market---for the price.....

Im excited to use the Legend Big Nasty---with the 4.9 Beast---Im guessing Im gonna have a hard time putting that rod down------but as noted I''ll probably switch the reels around to see what works best for me.....

Im also excited to use the Sling Blade---have heard nothing but rave reviews about these two rods---and both Beast reels as well-----

Does anyone who has used the Premier series vs the Legend Tournament series---think the higher priced rods are worth the extra cash? I needed to find out myself---I'll give my opinion after lots of hard use this summer...

Im I the only one having a hard time waiting for summer?
