I was surprised to find a new treple - D (supposedly a suspending type lure) float in 58 degrees water. Not only that, but when at rest the nose pointed up. I added some lead dots to the bill to even out the lure horizontally, but it still comes to the top of the water when in the pause position. Never paid that much attention before.

Water temp changes the density of water, and thus a baits buoyancy changes.

I would take a floating DDD over a sinker any day. I prefer a slow rise versus neutrally buoyant.
