Message Subject: Searching for tournaments to fish in WI on WI DNR Site...

Posts: 46 | When looking for tournaments to fish, specifically for musky, the WI DNR website has a frustrating search function that can only search by county and then species and month. Is it really that much to ask to be able to search for tournaments in the whole state, for muskies, by month? Would be nice if you could just look at the calendar with all the tournaments throughout the summer in the state based on species, and cant really be that hard to set up...? Come on DNR, get with the times. Rant over. Edited by WiscoEsox94 5/5/2016 10:25 AM

Folks, the WI DNR has had its budget cut, warden and other field positions being left open and they have eliminated a number of scientist positions. The director has said they will rely on scientist from regulated industries. Don't really think they will make this a priority.

Posts: 46 | Totally understand your point but i just dont think it would be that hard of a modification to what they already have. After all, it probably is someone's job already to do all the online stuff for the DNR anyway? In house? outsourced? Either way. Shoot, send me the info and ill put it all together for online viewing in the suggested format in exchange for a free fishing license every year.... Edited by WiscoEsox94 5/8/2016 8:12 PM

Posts: 46 | Sure, probably not a good idea for the DNR to promote tournaments as its not in the best interest of their image... However, they hold all the information for the state on when and where and for what. Would a simple modification on their search function really be "promoting" tournament fishing? I don't really think so?
