Location: Ottawa Lake, MI | My last time out last year I noticed grease all over my wheel and tire. I thought I blew the seal or something. I took the hub off the spindle and there was basically nothing left of my bearings, seals, races. The hub had gouges out of it and shavings in it. It's ruined. My spindle had a couple small scratches on it. Not sure if I need to replace this too? Anyway is there any tips for ordering the correct size hub, installation, etc. is there any brands of hub I should look for. Any help will be appreciated. (It's a shore lander trailer) |

Location: oswego, il | I would contact shorelandr. I am sure they could tell you or sell you what you need. I ordered an axle online for my small boat and it was not as it was in the picture. It had a flange. I was able to make it work but I had to be creative. Best advice contact the manufacturer. |

If you have Northern tool around you, chances are they will have what you need. The big thing to know is how heavy of a trailer you have which will determine which hub you need. If your trailer does not have brakes, it will be under 3000 pounds.
In a nutshell, if you trailer is under 2000 pound capacity, the hub will be the smaller hub which has both bearings the same size (I don't recall the actual size right off hand). If the spindle is not the same size front inside to outside by threads, you will need the next larger hub (1750 pound capacity). This hub will have a larger rear bearing as compared to the outside bearing by the threads.
Hopefully this gets you enough to go on. Northern tool will carry what you need regardless. If you bring your old hub in, they will match you up well. The only thing you might need to get information on is the correct seal. If you have your old seal, yet, they will match that up as well. Then...buy 4 of them. keep a couple in a #*^@-it box just in case, along with an extra set of bearings for one hub.

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Trailer parts superstore has aftermarket axles, hubs, and OEM shore lander axles. I would start there.
I have replaced 3 axles on different boats with Tie Down Engineering axles and I don't have any complaints. The new axle is true and does not wear the tires like the original did. |
