I just purchased a helix 9 that is not linked to my terrova and don't plan to. With that being said I'm looking for the best option for a map chip/chips. I fish mainly WI but get over to MN a couple times a year. I have a 2009 Navionics chip that I feel has more WI lakes than the lake master WI chip from 2014. Just want to see what others think and why. Two lake masters or a new Navionics chip.

Will the Navionics do depth offset, shallow water and depth range color for that unit.
I have the 9 also but have only ran the Lakemaster chips and they work great.

They will not do that and that is something I am taking into consideration. I am not sure if map shading is something I want over a higher number of lakes. I was hoping that someone has used both versions and had some input. I fish some smaller lakes in N. WI and the 2014 Lake master didn't have them mapped and my 2009 Navionics chip did which I found surprising. I'm not opposed to buying Lake Master chips for both states, I just want to make sure it will be worth the money.

More than likely the 2009 Navionics actually did not have the small lakes mapped. I have noticed (on my Navionics smartphone app) they simply took the old DNR maps and just penciled in 1' contours. Still not accurate, just looks better.

Not all of them have 1' contours but they are mapped. I can believe that they are DNR maps but at least there is a rough point of reference which is better than nothing when you're on the water. On my map there are still a lot missing but I feel that the Lakemaster chips are only the popular lakes. Like I previously mentioned I am not partial to either one, just looking for others thoughts. I have also looked at the lake lists and they seem similar which is where accuracy would come into play while on the lake.

The Helix with do auto charting so you could map them yourself ...
