Location: Detroit River | I'm looking to treat myself to a new musky rod and was looking at the new Legend Elite but was disappointed about them being on offered with split handles and wondering what people think about them. I've held a split handle in the store but just don't feel comfortable to me. If you were going to buy a new musky rod and the cost did not matter which rod would you buy. Looking for something for double #10 and #8 bucktails. Thanks for your input. |

Location: Madison, WI | Not sure I would do this on a legend elite, but I've turned all my split grips into full grips because I also find them uncomfortable. What I do is take a roll of hockey tape and wrap the area of exposed blank back and forth until I've built it up to the same diameter as the surrounding cork. Then I shrink the whole handle with x-flock and it looks like a full grip rod. I don't notice a weight difference but I'm sure there is some. If I was looking in that price range though I'd probably just have a custom predator built and call it good. |

Location: minocqua, wi. | Split grips is a great marketing ploy to sell you something with perceived value while reducing one of the biggest cost components (cork) of the rod. |
