Does anyone know the stock hook size that comes on the Crane 208? I replaced the hooks on a crane 208 with a little heavier hooks now I lost some of the action.
Thanks in advance!

I too have lost a bit of the action by going to stronger hooks.... I'm going to try removing the middle hook to regain some of the action. I don't see this hurting hooking percentages either.

I recently caught a fish on the crane 208 with the stock hooks and the fish broke one of the hooks off on the center hook and straightend one of the hooks on the rear hook. Fortunately we got the fish in the net. I am afraid to remove the center hook because that hook helped keep the fish attached.

switch them up to 1/0 thin hooks and you are good to go.

I contacted Bill(?) Crane a few years ago and spoke to his wife. She said the Crane 208 is supplied with a VMC 9650BZ hook in size 2/0. I have been using these as replacement hooks and have been very satisfied. Larger size fish do put a strain on these hooks, but I can't say that these hooks have cost me a fish.

Good fishing and tight lines!!

Thanks for the info on the stock hooks. I will be ordering some. Do you know how to get ahold of blank crane baits? I really want to get some blanks then have them painted up.
