Does anyone have any recommendations on which lake to fish? I'll be in the area the first part of May and have never fished the area. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Pewaukee is the best action lake of all of them. And it will be packed with fishermen. Absolutely stuffed with boats. You will probably have to get in line to fish out there. And that shouldn't keep you from fishing there.

Okauchee, Oconomowoc and Labelle are more low density. But bigger fish and less fishing pressure.

If you are in the area for a few days, fish them all. Or pick two and have at it.

I have fished Pewaukee for the past 5 years and I truly don't feel it is worth it. the average out there is about 39 inches but there are a lot. I would recommend Okauchee or la belle for some bigger fish. if you are here for a bit fish all of them... They're all good lakes.

okauchee can be a tough bite early season.. very deep lake that takes a while for it to warm up to consistent action.

If your boat isn't to big you can fish Oconomowoc. You launch at the bottom of the dam so if the water isn't to low you'll make it down the river. It will have less fish but the size of what you catch it's worth it.

Your best bet is to find a good fishing partner with great boat control skills and knows his way around a good contour map. Be careful selecting your fishing partner thou; And always look out for the one's that are only looking for a "Bernie". I would suggest Pewaukee and get ready with the net; your partner is going to need a good netman!
