Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland | Condsidering installing a hatch on my boat (has a wooden deck in the front). I have found a metal type sold by Cabelas ($54.99 for the 12" x 22" dimensions) with full metal hinges all the way across. Carpet can be glued to this hatch. I've seen the plastic kind and they don't look very good (kind of cheaply made). Wondering if anyone has done this and what they think of the metal hatches sold by Cabelas?

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I think the hatches we use in Patriot Powerboats are built by a company in Texas. Same company, I think, who builds the Cabella's hatch. It is a top quality product, and easy to carpet and install. |

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland | Sworrall: thanks. The specs do indicate that they are the same ones used on professionally made boats. Seems like the way to go. Tom |

I bought one of the hatches from Cabelas, haven't installed it yet but I have one and it is a good quality hatch. |

Location: Illinois-Indiana | I have the metal one, the biggest one they make.
Have to get some free time and put the darn thing in, problem is I haven't ordered the carpeting yet, building the storage will be no problem.
Looks to be top quality though. |
