The opener was good to some and slow to others. A 48.5 was the big fish for the weekend, a 47 was the second, and a 44.5 was the third as far as I know. The water temps are in the low 50 and the muskies are still in the spawning process. I caught a nice fat prespawn 44.5 inch muskie on the big end of the lake near deep water and a 38.5 inch post spawn muskie working the weedline. We also boated 2 shorties and a 34 incher. If the weather will warm up this week we can hope that the muskies will finish up spawning. Things will be on the slow side until they get done, rested and back to eating. Not a lot of follows this past weekend from what I have heard.

On Saturday we seen a couple of fish early in the morning, and during the 7:00 am moon rise we each lost one, seen about 7 or 8 follows and Jason Smith boated a 34 inch opening weekend muskie! After that 1/2 hour flurry of action things got tough. We fished until late afternoon and only seen a few more lazy follows. Sunday I wish I could tell you things got better, but for us we still struggled a little with each of us having a few follows and Jason missing a small one at boat side. Slow moving glide bait semmed to get most of the looks.

Things are starting to pick up, I caught a 40 1/4 incher last night and two other low 40's were caught. The Smallmouth are also starting to to eat. My partner and I had a double last night, my fish was just over 19 inches and the other was 22 to 23 inches. The bigger one was side by side along my fish and dwarfed my fish, she made a strong run under the boat and came off. Bummer for Jonny, that was a wall job for sure(replica).
Water temps are in the mid 50's and need to come up some. The WMT is this weekend so we should see some good reports this weekend. I will post the results after fishing it.

The WMT tournament was on Saturday and 18 fish were boated, most fish were caught on twitch baits but the larger fish were caught on glide baits. A 48 1/4 was caught on a Undertaker as well as some good fish in prefishing. Most of the field was twitching Slammers and Jakes. My partner scored two fish Saturday but the first one was 3/4 inch short. The second was legal and we were on the board, that fish ate a Drop Belly Slammer. We could not get a third fish in the boat to place in the money. Thats tournament fishing. Water temps did make it to the high 50's on Saturday in some spots but the weather on Sunday will drop them back to the mid 50's. Fishing should be good this weekend with a warm up starting. Good luck to all, I will be at Cave Run fishing the PMTT 2nd qualifier.

Water temps are coming up. High was 59.8 yesterday afternoon. Looks like the meat bite is dead. Dragged 2 nice suckers around from 2:30 till 8:00 with no luck. I did score a 37 on an Undertaker. 4th fish this year, all on Undertakers.

Water temps are in the mid 60's and the muskies are still hard to come by. I did catch two this week in three trips out but the activity was low. Casting has been slow with very little follows from what I have been told by other anglers. A 35 and a 33 was caught Saturday from one boat that talked to me. I caught a 41 incher that day but did not see any fish casting other than the one I took a picture of. The weed growth is good in some places and poor in others.
Bucktails and spinnerbaits have started to produce, Glide baits and twitch baits also are still working. I had a low 30's fish take a swipe at my 7 inch Slammer on Friday night.
Things should take off real soon as the water temps keep climbing tward the high 60's. Top water should start to produce real soon. I will try to get out tomarrow to poke around some of my hot spots that I left alone over the weekend. See ya on the water !!!

Fished twice this week. Thursday evening, I got out around 5:30 PM. On my 5th cast, I raised a legit 48 on a Suick in 10' off the weed edge. The fish did one of those barrel rolls, mouth wide open, and just missed. Saw 5 other fish in the next hour and 1/2 before moon rise.

Went out Saturday late afternoon. What a zoo at the launches. Put in at Smokey's East(Smokey's West had no parking). Some Yahoo was getting instructions on his new boat, after hitting a guy's truck while parking his trailer in the lot, and had the dock tied up! Took over 30 minutes to launch 3 boats with him in the way. Fished the narrows, and all I caught was floaters there. Hit the area I saw the big one Thursday, and raised a mid 30. Worked the area real good with nothing else to show. Moved around a little, and came back at dark. Threw a Top Raider, and had a fish blow up on it twice, right before moon rise.

The fish are ready to rock! I believe the Extreme One saw that same 48 Saturday morning, so I now know it wasn't just wishfull thinking on my part!

Shep that fish might be over 48. I had clients Saturday morning for a 1/2 day and they raised 8 fish in a hour, one was that fish you moved, same spot and also on a suick. After that hour the fishing just shut down.
I had a full day booked after the 1/2 day and we moved only two fish all day. One sub-legal muskie was boated but not what we were looking for. We did do a good share of trolling so they could rest their arms, then casted till dark.
The muskies are working the weedlines and are starting to go on topwater baits in the late afternoon. Water temps are hitting the 70 degree mark and the fish should start getting very active in the next two weeks. Good luck to all !!!

Mikie and John rocked Pewaukee Lake. They caught 4 muskies and a 27 inch walleye with me while they were in town.
Muskiefishing has been great until this past week when the storms rolled in. Since then it has been tough. 9 muskies the first week of July and only 1 the second week. Better days to come. Look for the trolling bite to be in full swing soon. See you on the water !!!

This is a picture of Daves muskie. He and his dad got out with me the 21st of July for a afternoon 1/2 day. We got a small walleye and a bass to go with his first muskie. Jack his dad hired me to take his boy out and get him hooked on fishing, I think I got his attention with this 47-incher. Nice fish for his first one.
