I am looking at getting a Eagle Fish Elite 320 combo sonar/gps unit.

Any comments good or bad.

Is a combo unit a good way to go, or not?

Any real difference between the Eagle and Lowarance units.

I need a good graph on my dash and my dad has offered to buy my Global map 100. I figured why not upgrade my gps also. This way I can take advantage of the Navionics charts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!

Eagle/Lowrance are same company, only difference is in the features the different units offer. They tend to keep the newest technology on the Lowrance units and Eagle is more of a price-point product but both are reliable good units.

I have two combo units and like both.

One consideration, if you enjoy ice fishing or hunting you may want to consider a sonar unit complimented with a hand held GPS/mapping unit. That way you can use your gps for several of your activities.

There will be a commentary on this subject tonight on the Discovery Channel at 8:00p.m. narrated by Hillary Clinton, featuring the unit she had installed in Bill's shoulder to keep tabs as to his whereabouts...:O

I have used both Eagle and Lowrance units GPS and depth finders (lcd0) and I find that there is more quality in the Lowrance units. In general more power, more useful features and they seem to last longer and have fewer problems. I have never had a combo unit because I am afraid of one problem taking out both functions. I keep my older units for back up so I always have a spare but I do not want to that one unit going out. I know it sound weird but...
The best GPS system that I have used is the Raytheon 425. You can now get the new Navionics map for LOTW that is the Canadian Coastal map; I believe it is much more accurate than the Hot Spots maps. In addition, Navionics new map is about $120 but they will give you a $35 credit if you return a Hot Spot map chip. Finally the new Navionics map covers the entire LOTW and they also offer another chip that covers much of the area and water between Duluth and LOTW for about $200.
Good luck
