Is the lip on a 9" classic a longer version of the lip on a 9" jerk? Can I trim the classic down to make it run shallower like the jerk?

Yes you can, but don't be smart like me and go past the shallow lip dimensions.... that kills the action

You can trim it shallower than the jerk lip. It will not have the wiggle of a crank bait any longer but maybe that's not a bad thing...
