Posts: 1294 Location: Hayward, Wisconsin | Recently MuskieFIRST announced a World Record Muskie Release Program (http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=106707&posts=97&start=1). Interest in such a program is rapidly expanding and wonderful new ideas have been proposed. Since all muskie waters aren’t created equal, we have decided to increase the interest of the program, while at the same time gathering much additional desired data on large released muskies and tiger muskies. The program is now expanded to include state and province release records, using the same rules criteria as the world record program. In addition, there will be a yearly winner overall, should no one best the current world record. When the forum is updated, the program will be almost self-operating, so stay tuned, but in the meantime, some folks out there are still fishing... World Record Release Program Rules 1) Fish must be legally caught during the open season. 2) Length measurement must be taken on a commercial bump/measurement board. 3) Girth measurement must be taken with a commercial flexible tape measure. 4) Photographs must be taken of the full length of the fish on the bump board; a readable close-up photo of the length measurement at the tail tip; a readable close-up of the girth measurement; a photo of the angler holding the fish and if possible, a photo of the release. 5) Waterbody and date where the fish was caught is required. 6) “Estimated” weight of the fish will be derived by use of the “Modified Crawford Formula” (L X G/25 minus 8.00) to two decimal places. As of 12/18/2015

Posts: 8794 | Larry, perhaps I missed this elsewhere, so forgive my ignorance. So let's say I go out next season, and I catch a jumbo. Pic on the bump board, pic of the girth measurement, pic of the fish swimming away... How does one submit that information, and to whom? Then what happens?

Posts: 32900 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | We'll have an OutdoorsFIRST secure email address folks will submit the data to that goes to Larry. Larry will then screen and enter the data into our OFM Live Leaderboard system, which will automatically apply his formula and immediately display the fish ranked by the results of the formula. It's possible to 'rank' an unlimited number of fish. A post with images and details will then go up. So far, anywho...
