Location: Lincoln, NE | There's kind of a cult following on the classic cats. But more people want the 8'H than the 7'6" MH. Also most people try to sell them for way more than what they cost brand new thinking they can make money on them. I have a 8'H and got a 7'6" from a guy at the same time but sold the 7'6" to my cousin. The St Croix premier 8'H glass rod is the same but different color and doesn't have the catfish name on it. Basically I wouldn't pay more than what a brand new glass premier with warranty would cost. Also there are a lot more great catfish rods that have hit the market in the past 5 or so years so you don't have to drop the crazy money on a used classic cat. Blackhorse Custom Rods are to the catfish world what a Thorne Brothers Predator is to the musky world. Also st croix just came out with a new mojo cat catfish line with I think 4 different casting models and 2 spinning models for 2016. Still S glass and now the 8' comes in XH so that should also bring down the crazy cost for the classic cats. They have them up on their website. As far as the classic cats there was a 7'6" MH casting a 8'H casting and I think just one spinning model also 7'6" MH but not 100% sure if that's all there was. They quit making them I think like 2002 or so because basically catfish people don't spend as much as bass walleye and musky guys and at that time the catfish world didn't blow up like it has recently. |
