Posts: 70 Location: Winfield,IN | Any action lately? Water temps? It's been a couple weeks since I've been out and plan on going on Monday. Just wanting to see what's going on.

Posts: 470 | Was out on Webster Monday and Tuesday, Water temps were around 54, moved one fish, tough conditions. Local guide said he thought turnover was in progress, I'd tend to agree, water was murky with lots of floating weeds. The murky is unusual for Webster, the floating weeds were not. Guide said the bite was good on other lakes in the area, just not on Webster. HTH, RandalB Edited by RandalB 10/30/2015 6:28 AM

Posts: 462 Location: Syracuse, Indiana | Webster was in turnover last Sunday. Still managed 3 rips on suckers, but only one follow. Fish were shallow, but not terribly active. With the fall leaves, calm breeze, and mild temperature, it was a great day to be out. As a side note, the DNR controls on the weed kill appear to be showing benefits. We have boated a number of small (17-24") fish - the first time in years. My guess is the total weed kills of the past left no cover for the shorts to hide, meaning the stocked fingerlings were simply feeding the larger fish. his year, Webster even has some cabbage beds!

Posts: 470 | Yep, Dcates, we saw a couple of smaller fish the week before and boated a 20" fish on a bass bait in the channel. Also, I think they stocked on Tuesday, I saw a hatchery truck parked at the public ramp on backwaters... RandalB

Posts: 70 Location: Winfield,IN | I will be out there tuseday most likely. Not Webster but probably look or barbee chain. Not sure yet where I will wind up. Tippy might be a good choice it should be in pre turnover since it's much larger and deeper.

Posts: 1 | my son and I fished webster/backwater on last friday and saturday, 10/30 and 10/31. we dragged suckers and casted artificials both days. webster water temp was 52-53 and murky. looked like turnover to me. the only musky we saw was thick in a weed bed in 5 feet of water just outside that small bay by the dam. we had drifted right into the thick of the weeds and the musky swiped our sucker but we didn't hook up. No action on the weed edges. backwaters was 48-49 degrees, and looked clearer, so we figured we'd cast out there for a while. We ended up boating 4, but the sizes of all 4 were between 24 and 27 inches. We were saying to ourselves that IDNR must have just stocked these in here. but does the state stock 24" musky? always thought they would stock fish in the 10-12 inch range.

Posts: 470 | It's my information that the DNR stocks Webster twice, once around this time of the year with Fry (Smaller) and again in the Spring with larger (10-13") fish. I'd guess those 24-27" fish were a year or so old. They were probably active on the backwaters because it's much shallower and doesn't turn over. I've been hearing that the shallower lakes in the area are doing great, but Main Lake Webster's been tough because the water temps have been bouncing around the turnover point and keeping it agitated. I'm going out this weekend to cast a little bit and pull the boat for the winter, I'll Advise with current conditions then... RandalB

Posts: 70 Location: Winfield,IN | Got a big.... Took my buddy for his first time and got him a monster 53.5"x23". I don't know how to post photos on here but you can see pics on Facebook. She was released and swam off very nicely. Measured the fish 3 times out of shear disbelief this one is going to be one to remember for sure. Had she been a little thicker I'm sure it would be a new state record. If anyone could post the pics for me I could send them to you via text message. Edited by Alumacraft11988 11/4/2015 9:43 AM

Posts: 70 Location: Winfield,IN | He was in a lot of pain trying to pick it up. He just had shoulder surgery a month ago! He couldn't even hold it out away from him for the pic. It's a small miracle that that fish was landed it was barely hooked I the corner of the mouth swam under the boat and was wrapped around the skeg. The first look I got at it was as I was clearing the line from the motor and I knew it was big just not this big. As soon as the fish was in the net the hook fell out. The release went great and she swam off strong. And I thought he had weeds at first! Poor guy is ruined now he's going to be chasing this fish for the rest of his life!

Posts: 70 Location: Winfield,IN | I went out to loon on Saturday and it has not yet turned over. It's getting ready to but hasn't happened yet. One sure fire way to tell if it has turned or not is to use your sonar and turn the sencitvity way up. This will show the thermocline if there is one. On loon the thermocline was down 33-35 ft.
