Posts: 46 | I take a yearly trip to leech now and the family is looking to add another week trip to somewhere a bit closer. Leech is appx 8 hours from where the family meets up in Cedar Rapids so something less then 8 hours would be great. We did take one trip to Minocqua years ago and loved it but I wouldn't know which resort to use now, Minocqua is around 6 hours. I know there are lots of other options out there that I haven't tried so thought I would ask here. So the list of things we are looking for 1.Clean 2.excellent fishing (muskie not a priority but a bonus) we love pike and some smallmouth would be a nice change of pace 3. family friendly, 1 non fisher, 1 four year old, 3 hardcore fisherman/woman, maybe a 12 year old 4.lets say 30 mins max from food and shopping, casino would be a bonus for grandma 5.we use a lund mr pike 17 or a fishhawk 17.5 so tiny rivers are probably a no go Thoughts, ideas?

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | Deadborse lodge on the turtle flambeau flowage. Great beach, big cabins. Lots of small pike for kids. Great smallmouth and walleyes. Low density musky population but worth the effort. Mercer not far away and plenty of smaller lakes to take short trips to if desired.

Posts: 258 Location: Mayville, WI | Wisconsin Dells. It fits the bill great for the family and non-fishing portion of your list, plus you have the WI River right there which has excellent walleye, crappie, and smallmouth fishing. There are some pike and musky in the stretch as well and there's a good chunk of it easily fishable with a boat your style. Only downfall would be the amount of other traffic on the water, which depends on time of year.

Posts: 1283 | Faths Big Woods resort on Big St Germain is a nice family resort with lots to do near by and 30 min from Minocqua. Meets all your needs and the chance at some nice skis.

Posts: 299 | Sunrise Lodge on Lac Vieux Desert in Land'O Lakes WI . Great family place. Activities, dining (awesome breakfast), multi species and big muskies available. and casino very close. The lake is big, weedy and scenic. Excellent fishing action 100 yards from the docks. Valley of the Giants!

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | You are describing Minocqua ... Della? WTF??!!!! Smallie bonanza in the Minocqua area and everything else you mention and then some. I recommend looking at VRBO or Nitchke's or The Point. Not sure if there is a resort on Squirrel Lake but you'd be suited there. another idea is Fibbers in St. Germaine or look in the Sayner area too. Pm me if you want me to help dig around.

Posts: 46 | I figured minocqua was my best bet. Like I said we went up there over 15 years ago and had a blast burning blades on little St Germaine. Thanks for all the help.

Posts: 300 Location: Minocqua, WI | Minocqua the dells of the north? Absolutely disagree. But fibbed up, yes. jonnysled - 10/20/2015 6:01 PM You are describing Minocqua ... Della? WTF??!!!! Jon - Musky Shores Resort is on Squirrel Lake and they have that type of environment desired. Todd M. has an awesome suggestion for the TFF and Deadhorse Lodge, and if you want that multi-species grand slam early to mid June would be the time to be there. Smallies are easy to find then and everywhere shallow. Donners Bay is yet another option too.

Posts: 688 Location: Already Gone | Of course you'll disagree....you live there. A cool place to live by the way. But, from outside looking in: Casino close by Paul Bunyan food Go karts Indoor water park Water ski shows Micro brew house Golf Water bars/food Downtown shopping district Fast food joints Traffic You've got it covered....it's as Dellsy as you can get. Too much action for this Fibs liking, I go another 1/2 hour north of you. It's just not my idea of being UpNorth. But I think it's perfect for families or folks that need that sort of thing. Just my perspective. I did like to visit Spangs when it was there though. Hope you have a great trip. Edited by Mark Hoerich 10/22/2015 2:27 PM
