Can you "overwork" a bulldawg style lure in the Spring or Fall cool water season.

By overwork I mean too much ripping, jigging, etc. Is a more subtle approach better? Even with that, I was thinking a bulldawg would just drop to quickly for the fish during this time - too much action. Would I be better off with something that suspends a bit more (e.g.; tube)

my take on it is this.... let the fish tell you what they want... there are those that say you have to work a bait slow in colder temps... I say bs...ever see a musky chasing down a sucker swimming mach 1 in the fall? slow is not always what they want.... I tend to work baits faster overall from start to finish, but pausing a bait a bit longer in the spring/fall can be a trigger... go out and work them both ways and see what fish respond to....there are no rules in musky fishing...

This past weekend I was on a pretty obvious (after a while) "bite." The phantom and playmaker strikes I took were, QUICK, QUICK, QUICK, longer than usual pause, QUICK, QUICK, pause, QUICK, QUICK, QUICK, QUICK, pause - all fish hit on those painful pauses where the bait was motionless or fluttering down. They didn't like it slow and then pause. So, that's my $0.02.
