Anyone have a suggestion for a slip bobber for sucker fishing? I have been using the round styrofoam floats and I break them everytime I set the hook. I noticed a lot of people using long skinny ones that lay on the water. Anyone know where to get one of those?

I go with Salmon Stalker 5oz. The reason I go with the 5oz is because I like to put a 4oz egg weight right above my leader to slow the suckers down when being persued.

Attach a planer board release to the bottom of your styrofoam float. Quick and easy depth adjustment, comes off when you set the hook and ice isn't a problem.

i wanted to try out a a slip bobber this week instead of my usually styrofoam.

which size Thill Big Fish Slip Bobbers do you guys use? The biggest is 8 inches

also, is there any special way to rig these? certain amount of weight needed?

i've rigged smaller slip bobbers for crappie fishing, are these rigged the same way with bobber stops, beads?

Yep with the large thill big fish slip bobbers I rig it just like a crappie slip bobber setup, bobber stop ,bead, bobber then sucker harness, then I add rubber core sinkers to the harness as needed.

I used to se the thill slip bobber but noticed when the wind pushed the boat the knot was not always on the bobber. I usually use a 2oz weight on that rig.

Now I use what Will Schultz just mentioned. I have a round and a teardrop shaped float that I run a wire through and attached an offshore planer board clip. The only difference is, I use the one with the pin and take if off sk I don't have to go get it.

im glad i asked, i was going to use an egg sinker. but makes more sense to use rubber core sinker in case i need to add or remove weight

we use the round Styrofoam floats as a slip bobber. use a bobber stop and a big bead and then clip on the Styrofoam float. ( just on the bottom part of the bobber only.) Turn the clip the other way. then it will slide just like a slip bobber

If you don't want to use a bobber you can always just hang them of the side of the boat deeper down while you are trolling around your breaks.
