The boat I am getting this weekend has a back locator that is ran by its own seperate battery. The battery it has is pretty much shot right now. I was wondering if it would be ok to get a smaller battery for the back since it is just running the depth finder instead of huge one. Or should I just spend the extra money and get a big one? There is a regular sized battery in the front running the trolling motor and front depth finder.

Remember price is an issue since I am a broke ass school teacher!

Thanks,
Mike Hulbert

Ice fisherman run their depth finders off of lawn mower batteriies, so I would suggest getting the smallest battery possible.    Why add an extra 50 pounds to your boat.  Depth finders use very little juice.

Mike,

That's essentially what I have running my finder up front. Eliminates all RF interferrence since the finder is the only thing on the battery.

Any idea on how much these things cost? Or any special brand/kind to buy?

And thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it!!!

Mike-

I voice in the opposite direction. I would run a full size battery for the graph. Why, it will serve as a backup to your TM batteries if one is shot or looses its juice on the lake. You can buy a walmart (ever Start) at a relatively cheap price. I acutally have a spare TM batt from when I replaced my TM batts last year. 1 was good, 1 bad, kept the good one. If you want it you can have it. Its a Great White battery.

RH,

From talking to Slarm lastnight, I understand you will be in the webster area on Friday. I will be there Friday early evening. I have an idea as to get the battery.

I tried calling you lastnight but no answer. I left a message.

Hit me with a e-mail [email protected]

Thanks,
Mike Hulbert
