I'm going to Teal lake in Hayward for a Bachelor party this weekend and would like to get in some musky fishing on this lake. Has anybody ever fished it? If so is it a decent lake?

Posts: 492 Location: Lindenhurst, Illinois | I have fished Teal and Lost Land many times. Decent Musky Lakes. You won't find many monsters but you will see many 35-40" fish with possibly the chance for an mid-upper 40. You might have more luck fishing on LLL this time of year. Try the large bays on LLL.

Thanks Mehabeeb, Looks like there's a river that connect the two, is that worth a look?

Posts: 492 Location: Lindenhurst, Illinois | I have never been "up the river". Tried once and almost destroyed my lower unit. I have fished the area outside the river and the area around the big rock that is visible looking out from the river into the lake with much success in August and later, not sure how those areas are in May. If you have time and want to get a guide see if you can track down Terry Peterson (you can probably track him down through Northland Lodge) great guide and a lot of fun. There is a canal connecting the two lakes, and yes it is all fishable with fish travelling through, and also holding in the canal. There is substantial emergent vegetation in the canal and some docks, wood, etc as cover. You can catch fish in here and can work the edges both parallel and by throwing across the cover. Don't worry about being on top of the fish, it doesn't seem to bother them. Also home to a fair number of largemouth bass. If the weeds are still down far enough go right over the tops of them. Spinnerbaits come in handy in this area. Below Teal Lake there is a flowage going out to a rock dam. This also holds musky but I have not personally seen a fish over 29" in there. But have not fished it this early in the year. The inlet in Teal and the outlet in Teal can both be good and there is a long bar that is very good at the outlet of LLL. Look for the weeds and you will probably find fish.

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | Look for emerging cabbage in the bays of teal and fish the shorelines that connect the bays on the east end for cruising fish. They will relate to those shorelines. The mouth of the teal river flowage would be another good spot too. No monsters but good action from 28-40" fish with an outside shot at a bigger one. Would like to see a 45" limit on this lake.Pike are getting nice too, some big ones to be caught. My personal best smallie and pike have come here musky fishing.

There is a hazzard bouy and evertime I am fishing there people buzz through and 3/4 of them smack their lower unit on the rocks. We counted 5 boats one morning. Only 2ft in the middle, go around the outside of those islands.
