Location: On the Niagara River in Buffalo, NY | We are now again under "Terrorist Condition Orange"! The Office of Homeland Security and the Department of Imigration have added a NEW BOATING LAW that is inforce while under "Terrorist Condition Orange".
If you travel into Canadian Waters while we are under "Terrorist Condition Orange",you must report to U.S. Imigration in person or by Video Phone upon returning back to U.S. Waters.Failure to do so can get you a $5000.00 fine!
Here on the Upper Niagara River and Lake Erie near Buffalo,NY,there are two Video Phones,you must call from one of them.One is at the start of the Erie Canal in North Tonawanda,NY,the other is at the Erie Basin Marina in the Buffalo Inter Harbor.Again failure to report your return from Canadian Waters under "Terrorist Condition Orange" could result in a $5000.00 Fine!The Security on the Upper Niagara between Canada and the U.S.A. has been increased by a fleet of Border Patrol Boats now on duty 24 hours a day as well.There is no way that you can run from the Niagara River to Lake Erie without crossing into Canadian Waters,the line goes over to 12 feet from shore by the International Railroad Bridge!
