So as we come into fall I am starting to think of the projects I need to get done on my Newly purchased used boat. I have 97 Skeeter Fish and Ski with full windshield. I have been using it a lot over the summer and realized it would be nice to put some LEDs in it so you can see the floor at night. I would like to put some one the front deck where I fish and then I would like to put some it the foot storage area as well as the rod racks on the left and right side. Has anyone ever done this after market installation?

Any information would help Thanks!

Yes I have done this and it's really easy. You can buy a kit at bass pro shops or online. Just make sure it's the all weather kind. I wired it up to an existing switch. You'll need some additional water resistant wiring and some butt splices. You can put it on the side walls or underneath the gun rail. The trick is hiding the wiring but it's a relatively easy project.

Thanks I appreciate the help. I have been looking for some stuff online but was just wondering if someone might recommend a certain brand. I saw a set a guy installed on youtube but he didn't say what they were. You didn't have to Sauder any of the wires to connections they were all good to go out of the box.

Go on ebay and search for LED Waterproof strips. A lot cheaper than the packages. It is all the same stuff that is in the packages. You can buy big rolls and cut it to size.

I have been looking at them online but wasn't sure. do you have a specific brand that works well? I can Sauder but It would be nice if I didn't have too on every connections. I would understand if I have to Sauder to the main power. (I don't think I am spelling that right) Also I am looking for something that might give me some options if possible. Things like light dimming and maybe different colors if it is possible.

I don’t have a specific brand. All of them are made in China. I usually make sure that the shipping is coming from the US. Take a look at Bluewater LED. They use the same ones you can buy on ebay, but they cut them into smaller pieces and solder on the wire and then sell them at triple the price. There are a lot of colors on ebay. I chose red, given it doesn’t affect your night vision. I have seen dimmer switches online also. I have not used one, so I cannot comment on them. Instead of the rolls you can find some that are cut at certain lengths and have wire ends on them.
