Posts: 241 | Great bait. Took two at Cave Run on them where I was first introduced to the bait. I have four of the small size. Real quick dive and rise. I say the previous post that uses the weighted version. I use the unweighted model. I weighted one with suspenddots and it slowed the rise. I hear they are a good bait to troll but never used them in that way. I think of it as more of a warm water bait. Might be two fast for the colder water of fall. Backdraft

Posts: 251 | I do like them quite a bit. It does rise quicker than I like, even the weighted one but I like it because it can be worked pretty quickly compared to a lot of other dive rise baits and you can cast it a mile. I can see why someone would say it is a warm water bait. Here is a link to a video of a fish I caught last month on a Slegde. It was a bad cast and I was just reeling it in fast to get it back to the boat; just shows to never give up on any cast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF5ACpQBMhs

Posts: 866 Location: NE Ohio | great bait! weighted with the rattles for me. casted or trolled. casting - i work them quick and they don't pop out of the water. i prefer the older RANDY SHUTT version. when trolled they just go back and forth and really do nothing, but the fish hit them quite often. do a search on hear it was discussed a little while ago. good luck

Posts: 19 | I love sledge baits, they are one of my main go to jerk baits. They work well with shirt fast jerks and equally well with slow steady pulls. I primarily cast but they are a great trolling bait as well. I have caught fish from 3-6 mph.

Posts: 45 | It's one of my favorite topwaters, yes I know it's a jerkbait, due to its buoyancy you can do the dive and pop to the top in wood and weed pockets...the hits are so cool it's addictive. The 9" is the way to go.

Posts: 148 Location: pittsburgh, pa | The 9inch unweighted is an absolute deadly bait. If you can get the right cadence you can get it to dance back and forth but it takes practice and some people cant catch onto it. Once you figure it out it will catch fish from ice out on.

Posts: 148 Location: pittsburgh, pa | And if you like the sledge or want a bait that works the same with half the work to get it done. The lunge lumber 9inch prowler is that bait. Todd yester

Posts: 360 | Sledge is great bait trolled or casted. I like the weighted versions. Also if u need a walk the dog bait take the rear hook and put it on the nose and it makes a great top water.
